I'll make a layout later.

I now present a log from AIM, where me and Sacerdotismo (Maticolotto) try to find Tetris Attack's puzzle data (the block arrays). It's very disorganized but I'll try to sort it out.

First off, he found the values of the blocks:
00 = Blank
01 = Heart
02 = Circle
03 = Up Triangle
04 = Star
05 = Diamond
06 = Down Triangle

Now, here's where we figure and rule out various compression methods.

[15 03, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: why isn't TA's ata stored into objects too? *hint hint
[15 03, 56 sec] Pika98765: lol
[15 04, 02 sec] Pika98765: it is
[15 04, 09 sec] Pika98765: well, prolly more a tilemap
[15 04, 11 sec] Sacerdotismo: how do u know
[15 04, 27 sec] Pika98765: how else could it be done? :D
[15 04, 35 sec] Sacerdotismo: i was thinking of2x2 shits
[15 04, 40 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[15 04, 47 sec] Pika98765: interesting idea
[15 05, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: i wonder what the values of those shits are
[15 05, 29 sec] Sacerdotismo: and where are they stored
[15 05, 31 sec] Sacerdotismo: in the rom
[15 05, 32 sec] Pika98765: shits? :p
[15 05, 37 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 05, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: everything is shit
[15 05, 43 sec] Pika98765: lol
[15 07, 02 sec] Sacerdotismo: i doubt it uses rle compression, if thats the name
[15 07, 12 sec] Pika98765: nah
[15 07, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: any other types of compression?
[15 07, 30 sec] Pika98765: wouldn't use that on a tilemap of that sort
[15 07, 33 sec] Pika98765: lesee
[15 07, 48 sec] Pika98765: well it's possible they could use dictionary table compression'
[15 07, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: woot
[15 08, 23 sec] Pika98765: take the nonsense sentence "sheep beep sheep sheep spoon"
[15 08, 29 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 09, 02 sec] Pika98765: as is, it would take up 28 bytes
[15 09, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: yep
[15 09, 25 sec] Pika98765: but let's say we add a routine where character #81 is converted to

"eep"
[15 09, 42 sec] Pika98765: now it's only 20 bytes
[15 09, 44 sec] Sacerdotismo: then it would be reduced by 8
[15 09, 59 sec] Pika98765: do that some more and you get a much smaller string
[15 10, 10 sec] Pika98765: of course this works a lot better for text
[15 10, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: i doubt that is used on ta
[15 10, 16 sec] Pika98765: but it's possible
[15 10, 37 sec] Pika98765: 1 sec
[15 10, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: that would be like an object set
[15 14, 45 sec] *** Pika98765 wants to directly connect.
[15 15, 54 sec] *** Sacerdotismo is now directly connected.
[15 16, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: ¿?
[15 16, 21 sec] Pika98765:
[15 16, 36 sec] Sacerdotismo: that is randomly generated
[15 16, 38 sec] Pika98765: now ignore the fact that this isn't from puzzle mode lol
[15 16, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: tok, whatever
[15 16, 54 sec] Pika98765: the first few lines are empty
[15 17, 01 sec] Sacerdotismo: yeah
[15 17, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: that can be compressed as a character
[15 17, 12 sec] Pika98765: rather than 00 00 00 00 00 00 one could use, say, 10 for each
[15 17, 22 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 17, 25 sec] Pika98765: then we have x x x Star x x
[15 17, 31 sec] Pika98765: etcetera
[15 17, 41 sec] Sacerdotismo: they can use...
[15 17, 50 sec] Sacerdotismo: 60 for empty lines
[15 18, 01 sec] Pika98765: there's only 6 blocks in puzzle mode right?
[15 18, 02 sec] Sacerdotismo: hen for the star line, 30 then the star character
[15 18, 13 sec] Sacerdotismo: in the first puzzle, yes
[15 18, 17 sec] Sacerdotismo: actually
[15 18, 25 sec] Pika98765: ok, so we add one more for an empty space
[15 18, 33 sec] Sacerdotismo: one empty, a heart block, another empty, 2 heart blocks and another

empty
[15 18, 46 sec] Pika98765: no, I mean 6 different kinds
[15 18, 57 sec] Sacerdotismo: hmmm
[15 19, 03 sec] * Sacerdotismo don't get you
[15 19, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: doesn't lol
[15 19, 19 sec] Pika98765: there's the star, heart, diamond etc
[15 19, 23 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 19, 27 sec] Sacerdotismo: and an empty space
[15 19, 30 sec] Pika98765: how many different shapes are there?
[15 19, 46 sec] Sacerdotismo: 6, but there's also the ! block not used in puzzle
[15 19, 58 sec] Pika98765: yeah, we can ignore that one then
[15 19, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: and a few invisible not-used blocks
[15 20, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: ok
[15 20, 23 sec] Pika98765: so we have 7 types and 6 blocks a row
[15 20, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 20, 36 sec] Pika98765: that's 42 possibilities
[15 20, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: no
[15 20, 51 sec] Sacerdotismo: well
[15 20, 53 sec] Sacerdotismo: yes
[15 20, 57 sec] Sacerdotismo: well
[15 21, 00 sec] Pika98765: hehe
[15 21, 03 sec] Sacerdotismo: i don't get you
[15 21, 13 sec] Pika98765: ok, assume this
[15 21, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: you can have star, star-star, diamond, diamond-diamond, to more

than x shit
[15 21, 27 sec] Pika98765: x = empty
1-6 = type of block
[15 21, 32 sec] Sacerdotismo: yep
[15 21, 35 sec] Pika98765: xxxxxx is one possibility
[15 21, 52 sec] Pika98765: xxxxx1~xxxxx6, xxxx1x etc
[15 21, 59 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 22, 02 sec] Pika98765: up to 666666
[15 22, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 22, 18 sec] Pika98765: that makes 42 possible arrangements for one row
[15 22, 33 sec] Sacerdotismo: why
[15 22, 42 sec] Sacerdotismo: you can have xxxx11
[15 22, 45 sec] Sacerdotismo: xxxx12
[15 22, 47 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[15 22, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: and so on
[15 22, 50 sec] Sacerdotismo: then xxxx21
[15 22, 57 sec] Pika98765: 7 blocks, 6 spaces = 42
[15 23, 14 sec] Pika98765: since there are 256 values, each possible combo can have its own value
[15 23, 15 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 23, 36 sec] Sacerdotismo: hmm, yep
[15 23, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: i considered this...
[15 24, 04 sec] Pika98765: so instead of something like 00 01 04 03 06 00 for one row you can

have as simple as 63
[15 24, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: yeal, but there are more than 256 possibilities
[15 24, 42 sec] Pika98765: the number of bytes per puzzle shrinks by 6, in exchange for the large

array of blocks in the ROM
[15 24, 56 sec] Pika98765: there are enough puzzles to make this worth it
[15 25, 10 sec] Sacerdotismo: 120
[15 25, 17 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[15 25, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: yeah
[15 26, 05 sec] Sacerdotismo: still then i thought of this
[15 26, 35 sec] Sacerdotismo: the first block has a value of 0,1,2,3,4,5,6
[15 26, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: the second blocks have vakues of 7,14,21,28,35,42
[15 27, 06 sec] Pika98765: say wha?
[15 27, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: and you add em up to do combos
[15 27, 25 sec] Pika98765: I don't follow...
[15 27, 26 sec] Sacerdotismo: like, if in a byte there are stored 2 shits
[15 27, 34 sec] Pika98765: oh, I se
[15 27, 35 sec] Pika98765: e
[15 27, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: and it has a block #3 and a #5
[15 27, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: then that would be 3+35
[15 27, 49 sec] Pika98765: you mean like a 2 block per byte compression?
[15 27, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: well, 3 can't be made
[15 28, 13 sec] Sacerdotismo: because the adding jumps to 300+
[15 28, 29 sec] Pika98765: if they used that, theyd probably do it more like 35 - block 3 and

block 5
[15 28, 36 sec] Pika98765: but it's doubtful
[15 28, 53 sec] Pika98765: that would shrink the size by 2
[15 29, 03 sec] Sacerdotismo: yeah... maybe
[15 29, 09 sec] Pika98765: whereas the dictionary method they use in every RPG would shrink it by

6
[15 29, 12 sec] Pika98765: let me see...
[15 29, 19 sec] Sacerdotismo: one sec
[15 29, 25 sec] Pika98765: how many puzzles are there?
[15 29, 54 sec] Pika98765: nm, I'll look it up
[15 30, 00 sec] Sacerdotismo: 120
[15 30, 01 sec] Sacerdotismo: 120
[15 30, 03 sec] Pika98765: oh lol
[15 30, 07 sec] Pika98765: k
[15 30, 18 sec] Sacerdotismo: 60 normal, 60 extra
[15 30, 27 sec] Sacerdotismo: they are divided by 10 puzzles per world
[15 30, 36 sec] Sacerdotismo: 6 worlds per puzzle set
[15 30, 41 sec] Pika98765: now...
[15 30, 48 sec] * Pika98765 inspects pic a bit
[15 31, 02 sec] Pika98765: actually I'll just run it
[15 31, 11 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol
[15 32, 56 sec] Pika98765: ok, so we have 12 columns x 6 rows = 72 bytes
[15 33, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: arent there 11?
[15 33, 16 sec] Pika98765: I counted twice
[15 33, 19 sec] Sacerdotismo: no, 12
[15 33, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: fuck me
[15 33, 27 sec] Pika98765: compressed via dictionary that's divided by 6 making 12 bytes a puzzle
[15 33, 31 sec] Sacerdotismo: cfuckmefuckmefuckme
[15 33, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: yep
[15 33, 45 sec] Sacerdotismo: *120
[15 33, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: 1440
[15 33, 55 sec] Pika98765: at 120 puzzles that makes 1440 bytes
[15 34, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: that means i gotta corrupt the rom in ranges of 1440 bytes
[15 34, 12 sec] Pika98765: now, the array of blocks for the compression
[15 34, 16 sec] Pika98765: hold it
[15 34, 20 sec] Pika98765: we can prolly do better
[15 34, 27 sec] Sacerdotismo: ok
[15 34, 59 sec] Pika98765: there's 7 types of block used including the empty space
[15 35, 08 sec] Sacerdotismo: yep...
[15 35, 10 sec] Sacerdotismo: mostly
[15 35, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: erm
[15 35, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 35, 26 sec] Pika98765: 42 combos * 7 types = 294 bytes
[15 35, 35 sec] Pika98765: plus 1440 for a compressed puzzle
[15 35, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: so
[15 35, 51 sec] Sacerdotismo: 1734
[15 35, 54 sec] Pika98765: yep
[15 36, 06 sec] Sacerdotismo: im doing this with no calculator
[15 36, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: ^^
[15 36, 12 sec] Pika98765: good for you
[15 36, 21 sec] Pika98765: now consider the 2 block per byte method
[15 36, 22 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[15 36, 37 sec] Sacerdotismo: well, that would be... 36*120
[15 36, 39 sec] Pika98765: yep
[15 36, 43 sec] Pika98765: and no array
[15 36, 53 sec] Pika98765: 4320
[15 36, 55 sec] Sacerdotismo: a lot more
[15 37, 04 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[15 37, 05 sec] Pika98765: exactly
[15 37, 15 sec] Sacerdotismo: ending results...?
[15 37, 19 sec] Pika98765: so chances are they use dictionary or RLE
[15 37, 31 sec] Pika98765: I dunno how RLE works so forget it lol
[15 37, 45 sec] Sacerdotismo: i'll try doing 1440 shit
[15 37, 46 sec] Sacerdotismo: well, rle is used on mario kart
[15 37, 51 sec] Pika98765: ok, wait
[15 38, 01 sec] Pika98765: you hacked the blocks in RAM?
[15 38, 05 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 38, 11 sec] Pika98765: ok, what were their values?
[15 38, 11 sec] Sacerdotismo: yep, i di
[15 38, 20 sec] Sacerdotismo: heart block... 01
[15 38, 35 sec] Sacerdotismo: l.blue triangle block... 03
[15 38, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: and i need to check the others
[15 38, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: but i think green is 3
[15 38, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: im not sure though
[15 38, 57 sec] Sacerdotismo: green = 2
[15 39, 02 sec] Sacerdotismo: let me check
[15 39, 11 sec] Pika98765: k
[15 39, 46 sec] Sacerdotismo: brb
[15 42, 01 sec] Sacerdotismo: back, i stil need to check though
[15 42, 01 sec] Sacerdotismo: hold on
[15 42, 06 sec] Pika98765: lol
[15 42, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: green is 2
[15 42, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: purple is 5
[15 43, 20 sec] Sacerdotismo: $tar is 4
[15 44, 03 sec] Sacerdotismo: dark blue is 6
[15 44, 03 sec] Sacerdotismo: ! block is 7
[15 44, 03 sec] Sacerdotismo: any more?
[15 44, 21 sec] Pika98765: what's 1?
[15 44, 31 sec] Sacerdotismo: heasrt, red
[15 44, 44 sec] Pika98765: ok
[15 44, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: l blue triangle is 3
[15 45, 27 sec] Sacerdotismo: the data is stoored via 2 on 2
[15 45, 38 sec] Sacerdotismo: and at the end of every line there is a ff
[15 45, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: in ram ,that is
[15 45, 48 sec] Pika98765: ok...
[15 46, 09 sec] Pika98765: what shapes are green, purple and dark blue?
[15 46, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: geen is 2
[15 46, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: purple is 5
[15 46, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: dark blue = 6
[15 46, 26 sec] Pika98765: ya but what shape?
[15 46, 35 sec] Pika98765: triangles?
[15 46, 39 sec] Pika98765: or whatever?
[15 46, 57 sec] Pika98765: bah, I'll check
[15 47, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: oh sorry
[15 47, 25 sec] Sacerdotismo: shapes... green circle, purple diamond, and dark blue down facing

triangle
[15 47, 57 sec] Pika98765: ok
[15 48, 09 sec] Pika98765: so...
[15 48, 44 sec] Sacerdotismo: what's so important about the shapes?
[15 50, 13 sec] Sacerdotismo: ...
[15 50, 36 sec] Pika98765: 1 = Heart
2 = Circle
3 = Up Triangle
4 = Star
5 = Diamond
6 = Down Triangle
[15 50, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 50, 54 sec] Pika98765: so...
[15 51, 03 sec] Pika98765: we first need to find the arrays
[15 51, 22 sec] Pika98765: should be like 00 00 00 00 00 00, 00 00 00 00 00 01 etc
[15 51, 23 sec] Sacerdotismo: hmm
[15 51, 40 sec] Pika98765: but there's prolly data in between them
[15 51, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: search for 00 00 00 00 00 01
[15 51, 57 sec] Sacerdotismo: and so on
[15 52, 11 sec] Pika98765: well...
[15 52, 18 sec] Pika98765: try something more abstract
[15 52, 28 sec] Sacerdotismo: lioke
[15 52, 36 sec] Pika98765: like 06 04 00 00 03 01
[15 52, 42 sec] Pika98765: less common
[15 52, 44 sec] Sacerdotismo: ok, wait
[15 53, 03 sec] Pika98765: everything from 00 00 00 00 00 00 to 06 06 06 06 06 06 should be there
[15 53, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: searched for 06 04 03 00 00 01 and there is no shit
[15 53, 27 sec] Pika98765: O_O
[15 53, 34 sec] Pika98765: that is weird
[15 53, 38 sec] Sacerdotismo: :(
[15 53, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: see
[15 54, 07 sec] Pika98765: maybe that combo isn't there because they don't use it or something
[15 54, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: no shit
[15 54, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: ummm
[15 54, 25 sec] Sacerdotismo: combos that are there are
[15 54, 32 sec] Sacerdotismo: 00 00 03 00 00 00
[15 54, 33 sec] Sacerdotismo: maybe
[15 54, 35 sec] Sacerdotismo: or
[15 54, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: 00 01 00 01 01 00
[15 54, 47 sec] Pika98765: hold it
[15 55, 06 sec] Pika98765: I'ma check the 1st puzzle
[15 55, 14 sec] Sacerdotismo: ok
[15 56, 12 sec] Pika98765: blank, heart, blank, heart, heart, blank
[15 56, 22 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 56, 23 sec] Pika98765: = 00 01 00 01 01 00
[15 56, 28 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[15 56, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: its really hard to solve ^^
[15 57, 26 sec] Pika98765: anything?
[15 57, 45 sec] Sacerdotismo: six
[15 57, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: instances
[15 57, 52 sec] Pika98765: ok
[15 57, 55 sec] Pika98765: back 'er up
[15 58, 01 sec] Pika98765: change one
[15 58, 12 sec] Pika98765: and see what u get
[15 58, 13 sec] Sacerdotismo: there are 5 inside the 16000
[15 58, 19 sec] Sacerdotismo: and one like at 60000
[15 58, 26 sec] Sacerdotismo: i changed em all
[15 58, 28 sec] Sacerdotismo: already, i tink
[15 58, 30 sec] Pika98765: k
[15 58, 38 sec] Pika98765: is #1 changed?
[15 58, 42 sec] Sacerdotismo: wait
[15 58, 42 sec] Sacerdotismo: wait
[15 58, 44 sec] Pika98765: lol
[15 58, 50 sec] Sacerdotismo: the 5 inxside 16000
[15 59, 04 sec] Sacerdotismo: are in a shit that is 01 00 0101 0010 010 010101 00 00 01 010
[15 59, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: that kind of shit
[15 59, 10 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[15 59, 15 sec] Sacerdotismo: no 10's though
[15 59, 24 sec] Pika98765: well run the game and see if the puzzle changed
[15 59, 41 sec] Sacerdotismo: wait
[16 00, 37 sec] Sacerdotismo: nope
[16 00, 39 sec] Sacerdotismo: didnt change
[16 00, 39 sec] Pika98765: damn
[16 00, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: at all
[16 00, 44 sec] Pika98765: hold on...
[16 00, 56 sec] Pika98765: do you know for sure that a blank space is 00?
[16 01, 26 sec] Sacerdotismo: i used the codewith 00, and every block that goes into that space

seems to dissapear
[16 01, 29 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[16 01, 36 sec] Pika98765: there could be more than one blank tho
[16 01, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: or, if blocks fall over it
[16 01, 51 sec] Sacerdotismo: it turns into a !
[16 01, 55 sec] Pika98765: lol
[16 01, 59 sec] Sacerdotismo: or something
[16 02, 00 sec] Sacerdotismo: try it
[16 02, 11 sec] Pika98765: what was this code, and which spot does it change?
[16 02, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: 7e1068, lower right
[16 02, 24 sec] Pika98765: k
[16 02, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: i htink
[16 03, 23 sec] Sacerdotismo: well?
[16 04, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: ¿?
[16 06, 54 sec] Pika98765: ok
[16 07, 02 sec] Pika98765: 00 is empty space
[16 07, 10 sec] Sacerdotismo: ^^
[16 07, 25 sec] Pika98765: also, FPGJ26C4 is the pass to level 10 ^_^
[16 07, 33 sec] Sacerdotismo: omfg
[16 07, 40 sec] Pika98765: ?
[16 07, 41 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol
[16 07, 45 sec] Pika98765: anyway
[16 07, 46 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol..
[16 07, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: u couldn't pass level 10
[16 08, 06 sec] Pika98765: that's not it
[16 08, 17 sec] Pika98765: I went to the first level with >1 move
[16 08, 26 sec] Sacerdotismo: oh, the moves
[16 08, 32 sec] Sacerdotismo: i know them
[16 08, 32 sec] Pika98765: else I wouldn't know if it changed
[16 08, 34 sec] Sacerdotismo: where they are
[16 08, 37 sec] Pika98765: cool
[16 08, 40 sec] Pika98765: anyway...
[16 08, 58 sec] Pika98765: if 00 is right and this didn't work we must have the wrong method
[16 09, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: ...
[16 09, 19 sec] Pika98765: 1 sec
[16 10, 07 sec] Pika98765: ok, 12 columns x 6 blocks = 72 possible columns
[16 10, 17 sec] Pika98765: they could do it that way
[16 10, 24 sec] Pika98765: that would reduce size by 6
[16 10, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: rows, not columns
[16 10, 27 sec] Pika98765: 6 times
[16 10, 30 sec] Pika98765: no...
[16 10, 40 sec] Pika98765: obviously it's not with rows
[16 10, 52 sec] Sacerdotismo: rows are the horizontal shits
[16 10, 55 sec] Pika98765: or it's a different compression
[16 10, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: not the vertical ones
[16 11, 11 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[16 11, 36 sec] Pika98765: apparently, it's not a dictionary compression of each row
[16 11, 41 sec] Pika98765: it could be of each column
[16 11, 57 sec] Sacerdotismo: aren't them a lil big
[16 12, 01 sec] * Pika98765 goes to level 10 again
[16 12, 06 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol
[16 12, 22 sec] Sacerdotismo: it has one heart, one star, then in the below line one star, one

heart and so on
[16 12, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: 5 lines
[16 13, 47 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[16 13, 53 sec] Pika98765: we have here...
[16 13, 56 sec] Pika98765: 2 blanks
[16 14, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: a heart
[16 14, 17 sec] Sacerdotismo: a star
[16 14, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: 2 more blanks
[16 14, 29 sec] Sacerdotismo: oh
[16 14, 31 sec] Sacerdotismo: nm
[16 14, 34 sec] Sacerdotismo: nm
[16 14, 34 sec] Pika98765: one of 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 01 04 01 04
[16 14, 50 sec] Pika98765: one of 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 04 01 04 01
[16 14, 57 sec] Pika98765: and 2 more blanks
[16 14, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: no instances
[16 15, 07 sec] Pika98765: try just 04 01 04 01 04
[16 15, 24 sec] Pika98765: I might have too many zeros lol
[16 15, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: still no instances
[16 15, 32 sec] Pika98765: damn
[16 15, 50 sec] Pika98765: so it can't be dictionary compressed
[16 16, 05 sec] Sacerdotismo: think about... 3 blocks
[16 16, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: per shit
[16 16, 20 sec] Pika98765: how?
[16 16, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: a row has 2 shits
[16 16, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: and every object has 3 blocks
[16 16, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: like, in the first puzzle, 00 01 00 and 01 01 00
[16 17, 08 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[16 17, 13 sec] Pika98765: I get you
[16 17, 17 sec] Sacerdotismo: or in the last, 00 00 04, 01 00 00
[16 17, 19 sec] Sacerdotismo: and more
[16 17, 38 sec] Pika98765: but why?
[16 18, 02 sec] Sacerdotismo: because there would be too many different possibilities for every

row
[16 18, 13 sec] Pika98765: if they do that, why not do 6 rather than 3 and save space, the way we

did?
[16 18, 27 sec] Sacerdotismo: i answered alerady
[16 18, 39 sec] Pika98765: there's only 42 possibilities
[16 18, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: there is more
[16 18, 52 sec] Pika98765: how?
[16 18, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: you mathemathic n00b
[16 18, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol
[16 18, 59 sec] Pika98765: 7 blocks in 6 spots
[16 19, 04 sec] Pika98765: 7 * 6 = 42
[16 19, 05 sec] Sacerdotismo: you have... 00 00 00 00 00 01
[16 19, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: then 00 00 00 00 00 02
[16 19, 27 sec] Sacerdotismo: when you reach 06, it is 00 00 00 00 01 00
[16 19, 32 sec] Sacerdotismo: but then u got 00 00 00 00 01 01
[16 19, 35 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[16 19, 37 sec] Sacerdotismo: 00 00 00 00 01 02
[16 19, 39 sec] Sacerdotismo: and so on
[16 20, 00 sec] Pika98765: but
[16 20, 07 sec] Pika98765: 7 possible blocks
[16 20, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: it would be 42 for only 2 shits
[16 20, 17 sec] Sacerdotismo: so
[16 20, 17 sec] Sacerdotismo: SO
[16 20, 17 sec] Pika98765: in 6 spaces
[16 20, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: FORGET ABOUT THAT
[16 20, 29 sec] Sacerdotismo: there is no way
[16 20, 29 sec] Pika98765: that makes 42 and accounts for every combo
[16 20, 34 sec] Pika98765: -_-
[16 20, 42 sec] Pika98765: just a second...
[16 20, 45 sec] Sacerdotismo: you can have 06 03 01 02 04 03
[16 20, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: when you write a number in hex
[16 20, 59 sec] Sacerdotismo: say 10
[16 21, 02 sec] Pika98765: ya
[16 21, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: you mean that the 1 means 16
[16 21, 18 sec] Sacerdotismo: when you write 100
[16 21, 23 sec] Sacerdotismo: you mean that that one means 256
[16 21, 27 sec] Pika98765: you're not making sense...
[16 21, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: while if it would be done with your method the first one in 10

would mean 17
[16 21, 57 sec] Sacerdotismo: erm
[16 21, 59 sec] Sacerdotismo: 16
[16 22, 11 sec] Sacerdotismo: and the first one in the 100 would mean 32
[16 23, 00 sec] Sacerdotismo: when you write 100 in decimal numbers, you mean there is

possibility #101, not #21
[16 23, 41 sec] Sacerdotismo: so think of a numerical system where every digit has a max value of

6
[16 23, 46 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[16 23, 51 sec] Pika98765: base 7
[16 23, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[16 24, 02 sec] Sacerdotismo: so
[16 24, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: when you mean 10 there
[16 24, 13 sec] Sacerdotismo: or 01 00
[16 24, 25 sec] Sacerdotismo: you're speaking about possibility #7
[16 24, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: erm, 8
[16 24, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: and when u say 100, or 01 00 00...
[16 24, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: you're not speaking about possibility #14
[16 25, 00 sec] Sacerdotismo: or something similar
[16 26, 55 sec] Pika98765: ok, ur right lol
[16 27, 02 sec] Pika98765: there are far more than 42 ^_^;;
[16 27, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[16 27, 13 sec] Pika98765: I've made up a program that will find how manu
[16 27, 15 sec] Pika98765: many*
[16 27, 25 sec] Pika98765: 15400 and counting lol
[16 27, 28 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol
[16 27, 38 sec] Pika98765: oh man, lol
[16 27, 59 sec] Sacerdotismo: i'd tell you, 200842+14406+2058+294+42+6
[16 28, 05 sec] Pika98765: that's a LOT of combos...
[16 28, 10 sec] Pika98765: 35000...
[16 28, 55 sec] Pika98765: 02 02 00 01 02 05 - # 38485 XD
[16 29, 04 sec] Sacerdotismo: lol
[16 29, 19 sec] Pika98765: 60,000+
[16 29, 25 sec] Pika98765: 70,000
[16 29, 48 sec] Sacerdotismo: close it, it will keep until like... 217000
[16 29, 53 sec] Pika98765: lol
[16 30, 01 sec] Pika98765: it's almost done
[16 30, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: well?
[16 30, 34 sec] Pika98765: close
[16 30, 38 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[16 30, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: how many so far
[16 31, 03 sec] Pika98765: 95000 :p
[16 31, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: omfg
[16 31, 23 sec] Pika98765: 100,000 and still going
[16 31, 52 sec] Sacerdotismo: whats the combo # 119000
[16 31, 59 sec] Pika98765: not there yet
[16 32, 05 sec] Sacerdotismo: around
[16 32, 05 sec] Pika98765: 115,000
[16 32, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: tell me
[16 32, 13 sec] Pika98765: aha
[16 32, 24 sec] Pika98765: 117,649 combos
[16 32, 37 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[16 32, 46 sec] Sacerdotismo: did u count the empty space? :P
[16 32, 48 sec] Pika98765: lol, I find that slightly hard to believe, but numbers don't lie
[16 32, 50 sec] Pika98765: yep
[16 33, 03 sec] Pika98765: and it does have every combo listed here :D
[16 33, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: omg lol
[16 33, 51 sec] Pika98765: that would take 3 bytes
[16 33, 56 sec] Pika98765: or 2 1/2 rather
[16 34, 04 sec] Pika98765: for each row
[16 34, 06 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[16 34, 10 sec] Sacerdotismo: if u use
[16 34, 16 sec] Sacerdotismo: 2
[16 34, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: it would take less
[16 34, 21 sec] Pika98765: same as the 2bpp compression
[16 34, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: and consume less space
[16 34, 43 sec] Pika98765: idea!
[16 34, 51 sec] Sacerdotismo: idea
[16 34, 58 sec] Pika98765: maybe they went so far as to compress 2BPP
[16 35, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: tried already
[16 35, 12 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[16 35, 18 sec] Sacerdotismo: but i can try again
[16 35, 23 sec] Pika98765: that only leaves RLE compression
[16 35, 27 sec] Pika98765: that I know
[16 35, 35 sec] Sacerdotismo: and object compression
[16 35, 38 sec] Pika98765: ?
[16 35, 46 sec] Sacerdotismo: SMW

[16 35, 49 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[16 35, 51 sec] Pika98765: that
[16 35, 58 sec] Pika98765: that's not a real compression method..

In this loooong chat we've basically ruled out a lot of compressions and settled

on RLE.

[17 01, 33 sec] Pika98765: 00 00 04 01 00 00
00 00 01 04 00 00
00 00 04 01 00 00
00 00 01 04 00 00
00 00 04 01 00 00

[17 01, 36 sec] Sacerdotismo: any luck?
[17 01, 39 sec] Sacerdotismo: omfg
[17 01, 42 sec] Sacerdotismo: omfg
[17 01, 48 sec] Pika98765: that should be L10's uncompressed data

After looking through a lot of RLE compressors...

[17 43, 35 sec] Pika98765: oh, fuck it...
[17 43, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: ..
[17 43, 44 sec] Pika98765: I know how RLE works
[17 43, 52 sec] Sacerdotismo: .so
[17 43, 53 sec] Pika98765: I'm just gonna do it myself
[17 43, 58 sec] Sacerdotismo: do it then
[17 44, 01 sec] Sacerdotismo: hah
[17 47, 39 sec] Pika98765: ok, it's not the best but I got it down by 40 bytes
[17 47, 52 sec] Sacerdotismo: how
[17 48, 11 sec] *** Sacerdotismo wants to directly connect.
[17 48, 15 sec] Pika98765: 2C 00 01 04 01 01
04 00 01 01 01 04
04 00 01 04 01 01
04 00 01 01 01 04
04 00 01 04 01 01
02 00

[17 48, 16 sec] *** Sacerdotismo is now directly connected.
[17 48, 34 sec] Pika98765: the format is as follows:
[17 48, 44 sec] Pika98765: [number of times to repeat] [data]
[17 48, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: i understand
[17 49, 08 sec] Pika98765: it'd work better if I could find a way to eliminate the ones that only

occurr once
[17 49, 23 sec] Sacerdotismo: put it alone + 10
[17 49, 28 sec] Pika98765: eh?
[17 49, 29 sec] Sacerdotismo: wait
[17 49, 34 sec] Sacerdotismo: wait
[17 49, 40 sec] Sacerdotismo: put the 00's...
[17 49, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: put a 1 before, indicating you're using run length
[17 50, 08 sec] Sacerdotismo: then put the tile u want to repeat
[17 50, 11 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[17 50, 12 sec] Sacerdotismo: then the times
[17 50, 22 sec] Pika98765: that would make it just as big if not bigge
[17 50, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: if there is a 0 before, then its a single tile
[17 50, 26 sec] Pika98765: bigger*
[17 50, 31 sec] Pika98765: I got an idea
[17 50, 37 sec] Sacerdotismo: no, you can decrease it to...
[17 50, 38 sec] Pika98765: only 00-07 are used
[17 50, 43 sec] Sacerdotismo: yea
[17 50, 47 sec] Sacerdotismo: 00-06
[17 50, 53 sec] Pika98765: ya
[17 51, 00 sec] Pika98765: so maybe something like this would work...
[17 51, 14 sec] Pika98765: [condition][length][data]
[17 51, 26 sec] Sacerdotismo: i can reduce that to 10 2C 04 01 10 04 and so on
[17 51, 39 sec] Sacerdotismo: lowering it to like 18 bytes
[17 51, 46 sec] Pika98765: if the condition byte is say 07, it's compressed, else don't change it
[17 51, 48 sec] Pika98765: how?
[17 52, 00 sec] Sacerdotismo: hmm
[17 52, 05 sec] Sacerdotismo: i'll do the chart
[17 53, 01 sec] Sacerdotismo: 10 2C 04 01 10 04 04 01 10 04 04 01 10 04 04 01 10 04 04 01 10 02
[17 53, 10 sec] Sacerdotismo: 22 bytes total
[17 53, 15 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[17 53, 45 sec] Sacerdotismo: running searches on H workshop
[17 54, 22 sec] Sacerdotismo: no instances
[17 54, 24 sec] Sacerdotismo: fuckit
[17 54, 26 sec] Pika98765: :(
[17 54, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: fuckit, fuckit fuckit
[17 54, 54 sec] Sacerdotismo: we need to ask fusoya for it
[17 54, 58 sec] Pika98765: lol
[17 55, 09 sec] Sacerdotismo: he knows about snes asm at least
[17 55, 15 sec] Pika98765: I'm almost done with a maybe better compression
[17 55, 20 sec] Sacerdotismo: k
[17 55, 51 sec] Sacerdotismo: actually, replace the 04 01 with...
[17 55, 55 sec] Sacerdotismo: 41
[17 55, 58 sec] Pika98765: hmm
[17 56, 05 sec] Pika98765: that was my next idea lol
[17 56, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: and replace the 10 with F0
[17 56, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: fucking snes roms
[17 57, 08 sec] Sacerdotismo: there is so much empty space filled with 00000000000
[17 57, 17 sec] Sacerdotismo: why do they have to compress that shit
[17 57, 27 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[17 58, 10 sec] Pika98765: OK
[17 58, 12 sec] Pika98765: 07 2C 00 04 01 07
04 00 01 04 07 04
00 04 01 07 04 00
01 04 07 04 00 04
01 00 00

[17 58, 19 sec] Pika98765: this is a better compression
[17 58, 30 sec] Sacerdotismo: 07?
[17 58, 34 sec] Pika98765: 07 means the next byte is a length, then data
[17 58, 39 sec] Pika98765: else, raw data
[17 58, 45 sec] Pika98765: 07 is never in the data
[17 58, 46 sec] Pika98765: BUT
[17 58, 49 sec] Sacerdotismo: no
[17 58, 52 sec] Sacerdotismo: mine is better
[17 58, 52 sec] Pika98765: we don't know if it's 07
[17 58, 55 sec] Pika98765: yeah
[17 58, 56 sec] Sacerdotismo: i reduced to 22
[17 59, 01 sec] Pika98765: but I don't get it ^_^;;
[17 59, 07 sec] Sacerdotismo: its easy
[17 59, 09 sec] Pika98765: this one's 27
[17 59, 21 sec] Sacerdotismo: the 22 one wont work though
[18 00, 10 sec] Pika98765: ok, now I'm gonna try RLE with 2BPP
[18 00, 19 sec] Pika98765: with the new method
[18 02, 44 sec] Pika98765: 21 bytes
[18 03, 03 sec] Sacerdotismo: ^^
[18 03, 08 sec] Sacerdotismo: tell me the shit
[18 03, 13 sec] Sacerdotismo: or a piece of it
[18 03, 15 sec] Sacerdotismo: so i seerch
[18 03, 17 sec] Pika98765: 07 16 00 41 07 04
00 14 07 04 00 41
07 04 00 14 07 04
00 41 00

[18 03, 19 sec] Pika98765: but
